Dr. Ronald Watanabe is an Attending Optometrist at New England College of Optometry (NECO) Center for Eye Care Commonwealth specializing in cornea and contact lenses. His primarily clinical interests are medically necessary specialty contact lens fitting and myopia control with contact lenses. He is an Associate Professor of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry where he teaches the courses in Contact Lenses. He also established NECO's Residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses in 1996 and has been its Program Coordinator since that time.
Dr. Watanabe is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Diplomate in its Section on Cornea, Contact Lenses and Refractive Technologies. He is also on the steering committee of the AAO's Fellows Doing Research SIG. He is a member of the Association of Optometric Contact Lens Educators and writes a column for the Contact Lens Spectrum monthly journal. He maintains a private practice in Andover, MA.
