Commonwealth Avenue Bridge Replacement Construction Project
May 30, 2017
Please note that Commonwealth Avenue will be closed to vehicles from Kenmore Square to Packard’s Corner from July 26 – August 14th. This road closure is due to the replacement of the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge above the Mass Turnpike by state transportation officials .
The NECO Center for Eye Care at Commonwealth Avenue will be open during this time, though patients should allow extra travel time during this period. Car access will remain on Dummer Street in Brookline, which runs parallel to Commonwealth Ave and provides the back entrance to the building. During construction, entrances will also still be accessible to patients on Pleasant Street and Commonwealth Ave.
MBTA ACCESS: Shuttle buses will run between Babcock and Blandford Street Stations from July 27 to August 14, 2017.
Commonwealth Ave eastbound and westbound will be closed to motor vehicles from July 27 to August 14, 2017. The MA Department of Transportation recommends using Beacon Street and Harvard Streets as detours to access locations on Commonwealth Ave. Our Commonwealth center will be accessible by car on Dummer Street in Brookline. Dummer Street is parallel to Commonwealth Ave and provides a back entrance to the building.
BU Bridge: closed to motor vehicles from July 27 to August 14, 2017.
I-90: Reduced to 1-2 lanes in both directions from July 28 – August 7, 2017.
