Dr. Elaine Icban Featured in STAT Video

Dr. Elaine Icban is featured in a video entitled Boddities: Why do bright lights make us see spots? The video is produced by STAT, the Boston Globe’s national science and medicine publication.  It is part of a series called Boddities which asks quirky questions about the human body. For this video, reporter Megan Thinking interviews Dr. Icban to investigate what happens to the eye when a flash goes off.
 
Dr. Icban is an attending optometrist at New England Eye Roslindale. She also serves as Clinical Assistant Professor at New England College of Optometry, NECO, supervising students and residents from the College. 
 
In the video, Dr. Icban describes the impact of the flash on photoreceptors in the eye and the after image created by the flash.
